This hotel is one of the best Heidelberg hotels in Old Town. It is quiet, private, and has some of the most beautiful views in the city. The food is wonderful, the staff is friendly, and you will be just minutes away from the city center. 

Worst Parts?

Some of the bathrooms could use a bit of updating, and the mattresses could be more comfortable. Guests also found the blankets to be too hot during the summer.

The hotel has incredible views of the river, especially if you’re staying on the upper floors. The rooms are very clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. It is one of the few Heidelberg hotels with parking. The on-site breakfast buffet has lots of food options and is delicious. 

Worst Parts?

If your room is facing the river, the noise from the traffic can be quite loud.

Heidelberg has many sites and attractions, so if you’re staying for a longer vacation, the apartment hotels are ideal. You will receive more room and a place to make your own food. 

Worst Parts?

It is a 40 minute walk to the Old Town center, but the main train station is nearby. Guests also found that parking is a bit too expensive, and the breakfast buffet could be better.

However, the Neuer Weg bus stop is only 8 minutes away and can get you to the city center much faster. If you have kids, the Spielplatz Kuchenblech playground is only 8 minutes away. 

Every room includes a private bathroom with a shower or bath, a hair dryer, a flatscreen TV, a safe, a minibar, and free Wi-Fi. Upgraded rooms may include a balcony. 

For something to eat, you can stop by the hotel restaurant for a breakfast buffet or dinner. If you’d like to relax, you can have your food delivered to your room, or you can take it outside to enjoy it on the terrace.

The rooms are very clean and the hotel is located close to public transport. The best thing about this hotel is probably their outstanding service and the kindness of the staff. There are also plenty of hiking and biking trails nearby. 

Worst Parts?

It is quite far away from everything, with the Old Town about a 45 minute walk away. The rooms do not include air conditioning, so they can become quite warm in the summer months.

The Hotel Neckarlux is one of the best options if you’re looking for a cheap hotel. Heidelberg city provides a lot of attractions. Although you probably won’t want to walk to the city from this hotel, there is plenty of public transport close by.

If you stay at the Berggasthof Königstuhl, you will be staying at one of the top hotels. The Old Town and the main train station will be quite a distance from you with this hotel located about 1.7 kilometers south-east of the castle but there are public transport options.

However, this is a good location to enjoy nature. You are just 1 minute from the Via Naturae Heidelberg. The Himmelsleiter hoch zum Königstuhl is 6 minutes away and is great for hiking.

Each room includes free mineral water, a bathrobe, a private bathroom with a shower, windows that open, a flatscreen TV, a hair dryer, free Wi-Fi, a coffee and tea maker, air conditioning, a cosmetic mirror, a minibar, a desk, a sitting area, a phone, and a safe. Upgraded rooms may include better views and a sofa bed. 

You won’t find any better views than at the Berggasthof Königstuhl. The hotel is located on the mountain at a height of 570 meters. You will be so high up that you will get unique panoramic views including the castle.

If you love nature, the Berggasthof Königstuhl is one of the best places to stay in Heidelberg, Germany. By far, the best part of this hotel is the amazing views of the mountains and the valley. 

No matter which kind of room you choose, you will have some kind of view. The food at the restaurant is tasty and reasonably priced. 

Worst Parts?

The hotel is quite far from the city center and from the train station, so you’ll likely need your own transport if you stay here.

It is one of the cheapest hotels on the list, making it more than worth it if you want to spend most of your time in the Heidelberg countryside. When you stay at the NH Heidelberg hotel, you are close to the edge of the Old Town, but the center at Marktplatz is about 25 minutes away. There are public transport options though. On the flip side, the main train station is only 11 minutes away so it is handy for late or early arrivals. 

Every room includes air conditioning, bathrobes & slippers, a flatscreen TV, free Wi-Fi, a hairdryer, a minibar, and a safe. Upgraded rooms may include more space, a terrace, a selection of pillows, an iron and ironing board, a rain shower, a tea kettle, a coffee machine, an Espresso coffee machine, and a sitting area. 

One of the most fascinating things about this hotel is the history behind it. It was originally built as a brewery in 1907. Today, you will find an old cast-iron staircase within the lobby which used to lead to another secret staircase. The secret staircase then led to the distillery beneath the hotel. 

Some say that the lobby is haunted by Friedrich Kleinlein, the old master brewer of the distillery. Some have claimed that you can see his footprints on the staircase when it rains. 

If you get hungry while staying here, be sure to check out the breakfast buffet that is offered every morning. For other meals, you can head over to the on-site Gallo Nero Restaurant which serves international dishes.
